Language Of Care

The language of care is at the heart of common thinking.

What are commons?

Commons are a British historical concept that has resurged and re-appropriated since 2008 to address contemporary issues around climate crisis, social inequality and wellbeing.

Commons thinking produces beautiful environments where social relationships be it work or home can be created/designed. Something beautiful gives us joy and happiness whereas something ugly causes sadness, disgust and pain. The latter environment is about care, respect for others, trust, confidence and horizontal power structures. The former is about competition, abuse of power, self-interest, disrespect, fear and hierarchical relations of power. One is an environment that builds confidence and empowers and the other disempowers and causes apathy.

At the heart of beautiful commons is the Language of Care. This means the environment we have designed to host young people is an integral part of what young people produce and learn. The environment of the commons through the governance design of Bizzie Bodies provides the place to be happy. We understand you can’t do well being TO people, you need to provide caring environments where they feel well.
